Possible Causes
- Pressure relief valve discharging (often indicates over-pressurization)
- Pump seal failure
- Loose or corroded pipe connections
- Expansion tank failure
- Heat exchanger corrosion
- Condensate pipe blockage (for condensing boilers)

These observations do not require touching the equipment.
- Note where the water is coming from (do not touch hot pipes or electrical components)
- Check the boiler pressure gauge
- Place a container under the leak if safe to do so
- Take a photograph from a safe distance

- If water is near electrical components or the boiler is losing pressure rapidly, this is urgent
- A small drip at a fitting is less urgent but should still be evaluated
- If the pressure relief valve is discharging continuously, the system may be over-pressurized
